Contemplative Education

As a student and teacher of contemplative education I enjoy discovering how the diverse practices of meditation fit into all aspects of life. It is through contemplative education that my interest in yoga and meditation merged with my passion for dance and performing arts. My specialty is in teaching and developing contemplative performance training and contemplative physical education curriculums.
Approaching mind-body synchronization through movement, I seek to cultivate awareness through the investigation of embodied presence. I draw from a wide range of movement styles and meditative techniques including: Martial Arts, Qi Gong, Yoga, and other contemplative exercises and practices developed and taught at Naropa University. Through these styles and techniques I provide a non-sectarian approach to contemplative education.

What is Contemplative Education?
Contemplative education is the core of Naropa University's educational experience. Bridging holistic and traditional Western education traditions with Eastern world wisdom traditions and meditation practice Naropa provides a contemplative liberal arts education rooted in mindfulness, self-awareness and compassion.
While at Naropa University I studied Maitri Space Awareness and Mudra Space Awareness in depth with Lee Worley and later continued my study of these practices in the Master of Arts in Contemplative Education program with Richard Brown. Another influence during my time at Naropa was Barbara Dilley and her approaches to contemplative dance, improvisation and composition. My teaching, work, and life have been deeply informed by these teachers and through the practices they teach. It is through the generosity and dedication of these teachers, whom are original students of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, that I was able to learn the contemplative practices and forms which he developed. While studying at Naropa I also learned many contemplative practices that my teachers developed through their personal experiences and insights into this lineage of contemplative education and practice. Most importantly I have been guided by their compassionate wisdom which manifest through their brilliant presence. I am forever grateful to all of the teachers and mentors who I have met along this path.
