Yoga Bio

I teach Hatha Yoga inspired by the lineages of Krisnamacharaya, namly Iyengar and Ashtanga, as well as the lineage of Swami Sivananda, and Swami Satyananda as presented through Naropa University's Yoga Teacher Training program. My teaching style is deeply meditative and often humorous. I strive to hold a balance of relaxed precision and deep play within my life and practice. My class incorporates asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, and meditation into a complete practice session. I enjoy providing an integrated view of Yogic and Buddhist theory and philosophy, along with the experiential aspect of learning the profound practice of meditation.

I am a formal student of Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar Sri Shambhavananda, who teaches Kundalini Meditation rooted in the lineage of Kasmir Shaivism. I earned my first teacher training certification at the 200-hour level at the Shambhava School of Yoga in 2005. I then studied contemplative practices, education, and yoga in depth, over a seven year period, at Naropa University where I completed the 1,000-hour teacher training program in Hatha Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Yogic Meditation and Yoga History Theory and Philosophy. Throughout this journey I have studied with many gifted yoga teachers who continue to inspire my teaching and practice including: Natraja Kallio, Sreedevi Bringi, Richard Freeman, Rod Stryker, and John Friend.
