Dance Bio
My experience as a dancer began in the clubs and extended into the streets with breaking and party dances. As a bboy I have over 22 years of experience freestyling in cyphers, battling, and performing. My enjoyment of movement quickly inspired me to study subtle mind-body modalities of yoga, martial arts, and other contemplative movement forms that I have immersed myself in for the past 20 years. During this time, I have had the privilege to learn from many world-renowned street dancers including, Bboying with Remind and with Waaak One, Hip Hop dance with Clide Evens Jr. at the Bates Dance Festival, Funkstyles with Popping Pete, and House dance with Cricket.
In addition to street dancing, I have studied Traditional West African dance, drumming and singing with Maputo and Mawuenyega Mensah, Viewpoints, Improvisation and Contemplative Dance Practice with Barbara Dilly, Pilates and Release Technique with Cara Reeser, Body-Mind Centering under the guidance of Wendell Beavers, a fusion of martial arts with contemporary West African as taught by Onye Ozuzu, Contact Improvisation with Nancy Stark Smith at the Bates Dance Festival, and partner acrobatics with Wise Fool Circus at Frequent Flyers Arial Dance Festival, and with Bill Forchian at New England School of Circus Arts.
